KLI-K3 MSB 20% contains Vitamin K3 (Menadione Sodium Bisulphite) at 20% concentration. Vitamin K is a
\ncofactor in the post-ribosomal synthesis of clotting factors including Factor II (prothrombin), VII (proconvertin),
\nIX (plasma thromboplastin component), and X (Stuart factor), as well as proteins C and S involved in the
\nproduction and inhibition of thrombin.
\nVitamin K hypovitaminosis results in hypoprothrombinemia, which leads to prolonged bleedings, large
\nhaematomata, severe haemorrhagic anaemia, and haemolytic jaundice. Menadione (synthetic Vitamin K3) is
\nabsorbed by diffusion in the distal portions of the small intestine and colon.
\nIndications: Treatment and prevention of haemorrhages associated with Vitamin K deficiency or intestinal
\nparasitic infections such as coccidiosis, and as an antagonist for anticoagulant poisoning (e.g. due to
\nrodenticide toxicity, sweet clover poisoning, or treatment with sulfaquinoxaline) in calves, cattle, goats, poultry,
\nand sheep.
