\nCHARACTERISTICS:
\nCopper is absorbed by plants mainly during the first growth stages. It acts, at cell level, as chlorophyll
\nstabiliser, by fixing it in chloroplasts (such as iron does) and preventing its early degradation. It effectively
\nprolongs the vegetative cycle by increasing enzyme synthesis, by stimulating nitrogen uptake. In many
\ncrops (potatoes, vines, tobacco) an adequate supply of copper allows a significant improvement and
\nincrease of production. Treatments on cereals (wheat, corn, barley, oats) are recommended if coming into
\near is hampered by Cu-deficiency, or the seeds are small and located on curved ears or whitish leaves
\nare present. Even in orchards, the lack of copper can cause strong production drops both in citrus trees
\nand in pome fruit trees, occurring as diseases which deteriorate the fruits.
