\nCharacteristics:
\nSulphur plays very specialised roles in the plant, as it is an important constituent of biologically active compounds. S-deficiency can
\ncause serious metabolic imbalances, as the plant is unable to produce proteins due to the lack of sulfur amino acids. It occurs as a
\nchlorosis that starts from the younger leaves. Sulphur contributes to lower pH in the soil solution, so it can be conveniently used to
\ncorrect excessively alkaline soils. For this purpose it might be distributed in fertirrigation by periodic treatments, respecting the
\nsuggested doses. Some elements (Fe, P) in an alkaline environment are difficult to assimilate by plants; a sulphur supply makes
\nmany other elements more available. It regulates nitrogen availability (since sulphur plays a key function in nitrification and urease
\nactivity), thus increasing the fertilisation efficiency.
